Most affectionate dog breeds?
The last three dogs I have owned are SO independent. They like me and are friendly but most of the time are totally happy to go off and do their own thing, even though I have tried to develop a better bond through lots of training, exercise, etc... it's just the way they are because of breed and individual personality . I would like to get another dog, but what I really want is a dog that will adore me and LOVE spending time with me. Will be my shadow, follow me from room to room, lick my face, sleep beside me, etc.. One who will enjoy training, working, and exercising with me. I was watching families playing with their dogs off leash at the beach last weekend. These dogs were being so good, staying with their people even though there were lots of other dogs and people around, it made me sad because I couldn't imagine any of my old dogs being able to do that. I want a dog who would do that, want to stay with me. I can train my dogs to come when called around distractions and stay when told, but that is different from the dog actually wanting to be with you no matter what. I want a dog who can be let off leash and I know it will stick around, not just be looking for an opportunity to run off and go on adventures by itself.Which breeds are most likely to be like that?? I have done my own research but don't have experience with some of the breeds I am considering, so I am hoping for detailed answers based on your personal experience, not just 'this breed is best'.I am very active outdoors, hiking, jogging etc... and I compete in dog sports such as agility and obedience, so I need a dog who is athletic, smart, and high energy as well as super affectionate and devoted to me . Also don't want a small dog, prefer something over 40lbs. I have experience training, including dominant breeds.I do like the retriever breeds, but have some concerns. I don't necessarily need the dog to be everyone's best friend, just my best friend. I want it to be devoted to me. And I don't like the strong odor these breeds have, especially since my dogs are also house pets and I don't want my house and stuff to reek of oily dog. So if that is your answer, maybe some tips for controlling the stink?I do like pits but will not own a bully breed. I have met many nice ones but I just don't care to deal with the bad reputation. And I am well aware every dog is an individual. But breeds are what they are because they have been bred for certain traits, so yes, you can make GENERALIZATIONS about breeds. As long as you remember that is all they are, they apply 'in general'. After picking a breed or breeds I would want to own, of course each dog puppy considered will be evaluated as an individual.

I need some dog breeds for my story...can any one help me?
Alright...so I'm writing a story I'm not telling you what it's about P , and I need a few different dog breeds. I'd prefer them to be kind of tough, but also pretty or graceful or something like that. You could also give me your favorite or least favorite breed, it really doesn't matter all that much to me. P

What dog breeds do well in an apartment?

What are some dogs? (dog breeds please:)?
Im getting a dog, And I need some help Here are my parents only guidline It cant be bigger the a LabAha So uhmm What are some dogs that are pretty hyper, but smart I go running in the morning so i need a runing dog And I prefer short hair dog becuase it gets really hot in the summer here.I would like a meduim size dog and if you know any that are good please tell me also if you could tell me how they act that would be good to...THank you Don't be worried about me not taking care of them or not getting enough excersise. I run in the morning, and after school then i play with my dogs. What are some dog breeds that are easy to housebreak?
Now whenever I've asked a question in this section I always get hostile responses. I asked a question about dog breed traits and all I got was 'YOU HAVE TO TRAIN IT DUMBAS 'AT THE END OF THE DAY certain breeds have certain traits Like bearded collies are notorious for bouncing about and jumping. So I'm NICELY asking if theres a breed or group that is IN GENERAL easier to house train. Like I really like Basset Hounds, I like all dogs in the hound group really, but they are statistically hard to house train. Since this will be my first dog, I have zero experience about training puppies. Not saying I haven't had dogs or experience with dogs in the past, but this will be MY dog, just me and the dog, so I have no 'from day one' experiance. I know housebreaking is all about training and hard work good thing I am a night owl but yeah, as I said apparently some breeds are better than others. So I'm asking, NICELY. Thanks in advance. Yes as you can probably tell I am a cat person through and through, but I would like a dog to take up my spare time for exercise. I need an exercise partner. I don't think my cat can handle a workout Phew, not as hostile as the last lot, thanks, I can breathe a little easier.

Which dog breeds do you think may be banned next?
just out of interest as there was stuff on the news about banning a few more breeds of dogs.i think maybe staffordshire bull terriers, mainly because of their use as a status symbol.

Good big dog breeds for my grandparents?
My grandparents have been faithful to the Rottweiler their entire lives, so it was hard for them to come to the conclusion that they simply didn't have the physical strength to raise another Rott. Their last one died just a month ago. R.I.P Axel They really want another dog though, so they gave me the job of finding a suitable breed. I'd like some help in what direction to look though. And also, my Grandfather doesn't want a mutt, a shelter dog, or an adult dog. He doesn't want to pay for other people's mistakes, which is fair enough really. I'm happy with my shelter dog though.Anyway, they are both 78 years old and are of good health, but my grandfather had a small stroke two years ago, so he is a little weak. They go for several walks a day, love hiking in the woods and swimming. They live in a small house, but have a pretty big garden. They want a medium large dog that isn't too hyper, but still loves to go for walks. I was hoping to find a more docile breed, as the problem with Rottweilers is that they require strong, clear alpha owners, and they are not sure they can do that anymore. My grandmother also want a breed that are good guard dogs, as she loved knowing no burglar would leave their house with all limbs attached. That isn't really necessary though.Would just like to add, should something happen to my grandparents, they have three children and four grandchildren who would be happy to take their dog.

What are the Quebec laws on dog breeds?
I am planning to move into a house real soon and I will be rescuing a dog which will mostly be a pit bull and I know they are considered dangerous and some cities don't accept these dogs and other dogs. I tried to search on the web and I had no such luck so I need your help. I don't know where exactly I am going to move but it will mostly be on the South Shore. ex Brossard, Greenfield Park... Thanks

Which ones are good dog breeds?
i am very active and not home during the week until the afternoon. what kind of dog is good home alone, but would still love to go for a daily jog with you. if it helps, i have owned a dog before and i am looking for a medium size dog.thanks ten points for the best answer.

Strong Dog Breeds For Traveling?
I'm a Nomad and while traveling i've become quite lonely.Whats a good breed of dog wolf that could travel with me.I researched the African Wild Dog, but it would be quite hard to acquire one of those, especially as a pup.

What dog breed am I most compatible with?
I am thinking of adopting from a shelter, but before I dive in I would like to know which dog breeds would be suitable for me. I like big, intimidating dogs that are really just softies and are very affectionate. They have to be friendly and huggable. This is something I won't compromise. I want a dog that will be extremely loyal, but intelligent. Someone easy to train and not likely to run away when we're at the park. I also prefer softer coated dogs, but that isn't as important to me as the other details. So basically I want your stereotypical companion mans best friend kind of dog. But make sure it's big and, if possible, fluffy. I grew up with an angel of a golden retriever, so maybe my view of dogs is a little unrealistic, but I really appreciate any help you can offer.Thank you. And I realize the majority of them will be mixed breeds, but the temperaments and behaviors the the breeds are still important to me, even if it really does depend on the individual dog.

What are some good medium size dogs breeds.?
First off I know that a good dog comes down on how you raise it. However " what I mean" by good is, can you give me a good list of dogs that are medium size that you would recommend to someone? We are looking for a dog for our house. So we're looking to buy a smallish medium k9.
