(Posted by: Myahhmarie(: on 2010-03-10 11:42:38)

Im getting a dog, And I need some help Here are my parents only guidline: It cant be bigger the a Lab Aha:) So uhmm What are some dogs that are pretty hyper, but smart(I go running in the morning so i need a runing dog) And I prefer short hair dog becuase it gets really hot in the summer here. I would like a meduim size dog and if you know any that are good please tell me :) also if you could tell me how they act that would be good to... THank you:) Don't be worried about me not taking care of them or not getting enough excersise. I run in the morning, and after school then i play with my dogs. My family are very good pet lovers, and they are giving me ideas also, but I would like to do this on my own, , so Yeaa:) (btw we already have a toy dog and i dont like it very much i would prefer meduim dogs, thank you:)

I would definitely would pick an American Eskimo. These dogs are super intelligent and active. They have long hair but it helps them keep cool. They come in three different sizes so you can pick which size. These dogs are great around dogs, kids, and cats. They are not good around small mammals like hamsters because they tend to chase them. The American Eskimo is very protective of their owner and will fight any dog to protect their owner. These dogs bark more than average but they are so smart that it is so easy to teach them to be quiet. They are trained very easily. They are good indoor pets and good outdoor pets. They love being with their family doing activities. Because of their long fur coat they tolerate the cold and the heat. They shed more than average, but if you groom them two or three times a week it will decrease the shedding by allot.

Boxer Temperament: The character of the Boxer is of the greatest importance and demands the most careful attention. He is renowned for his great love and faithfulness to his master and household, his alertness, and fearless courage as a defender and protector. The Boxer is docile but distrustful of strangers. He is bright and friendly in play but brave and determined when roused. His intelligence and willing tractability, his modesty, and cleanliness make him a highly desirable family dog and cheerful companion. He is the soul of honesty and loyalty. He is never false or treacherous even in his old age.

Smaller collies and australian shepards make great companions, are very intelligent and would be about the right size. Just takes a little effort to keep them groomed.

A good running dog would be a lab, or a smart dog would be a border collie or something like that. here is a quiz that should help. it helped for me :) dogtime.com/ matchup/ start Hope this helped!1 ☺☻

You want to be careful about getting an overly hyper dog. A run in the morning will not be enough for them. They require extensive exercise and attention. All breeds require appropriate exercise and training to stay healthy and happy. You want to be sure to avoid snub-nosed dogs (like pugs and bulldogs) because they have unique respiratory systems that make it difficult for them to run for extended periods of time, especially in a warm climate. Spaniels may be a good choice, they have energy but with moderate exercise they calm down. Labs or other retrievers may also be good, they are often great starter dogs and are eager to learn. They need consistent training to keep them under control. You want to avoid collies or terriers of any kind, they have a lot of energy. Hounds may also be a good choice. Before you get a dog be sure to do extensive research and talk to experts to see if the dog is right for you. Here is the AKC website, which is a great place to start. akc.org/ breeds/ breeds_a.cfm

Well there are many good breeds but id suggest going to a shelter instead of a breeder to fing your new best friend. many are over burdened so plz consider that. But some good breeds could be -boxer -border collie -pit bull(they have a bad rep but they are extremely loyal and will always love you as much as any other dog -dobermen -miniture pinser -blood hound -grey hound and many others could be great for you and your family! best of luck!

Brittany Spaniel: good with kids if raised with them from puppyhood. Resistant to cold temperatures. Do well with acreage, not made for apartment living. Boxer: do best with at least an average sized yard. Love children. Prefer moderate weather - not too hot and not too cold. Dalmation: do not leave outside in the cold. Active! Like brisk walks. Not super great with children, only because they can be too rowdy. Lab: one of the best dogs you could ever own! like to run and play. Weimaraner: very active. not reccommended for around children because of excitement. prefer a large yard. Great Dane: like large yards. loves children. affectionate. Greyhound: love running. also a lot need to be rescued, they are one of the worst treated dogs for some reason.
