Question: Can you play multiplayer games on wii for the classic games with 2 classic controllers?

I bought donkey kong adventure (snes version) for classic wii and cannot figure out how i can play with 2 players at once. is this even possible for the wii? i do have 2 classic controllers. i appreciate any feedback you may have. what about other games like if i bought a classic sport game? can thiose games be played head to head using 2 controllers?
